Purpose
See, format, and mount the physical drives attached to the Relayer host. Drives
mounted here become available to Cloud Sync immediately. Mounts are restored
automatically after a container restart, and failed re-mounts are surfaced explicitly.
When you use it
- Preparing a drive as a Cloud Sync source.
- Checking drive health and temperatures.
- After adding or removing hardware — hit Rescan.
Controls
- Rescan — re-detect attached drives.
- Format & mount all — a header action that appears only when two or more
unformatted disks are present; formats and mounts each one in a single confirmed
batch. - Per-drive cards: model or vendor label, a USB tag on hot-pluggable drives, a
health badge (PASS, WARN, FAIL, or UNKNOWN) with temperature, the
device path, size, filesystem (or an Unformatted tag), and current mount point
(or Not mounted). Card actions appear in both the header and the footer:- Format — on an unformatted disk; opens the format dialog (below).
- Mount — on a formatted, unmounted drive.
- Unmount — on a mounted drive.
- Eject — on USB / hot-pluggable drives only.
- Format dialog — a destructive-action confirmation. You choose a filesystem
(ext4, recommended, or xfs), enter a mount name (letters, digits, underscore, hyphen,
up to 32 characters — the drive mounts under that name), and re-type the device name
to confirm before it will run. Shows a success state when done. - Mount form — an inline form (name-to-mount-at) for a formatted drive or
partition. - Partitions — listed nested under their parent disk, each with its size,
filesystem (or Unformatted tag), mount point, and per-partition Mount / Unmount
actions. There is no per-partition Format — formatting is whole-disk only. - Offline (failed re-mount) card — a drive that was mounted before but did not
re-mount on container start; shows its last mount point, filesystem, and identifier,
with guidance to reconnect and rescan.
Common tasks
- Prepare a Cloud Sync source: find an unformatted drive → Format → choose ext4,
give it a mount name, type the device name to confirm → it formats, mounts, and
appears in Cloud Sync’s Local Directory dropdown. - Mount an already-formatted drive: find it → Mount → give it a mount name.
- Prepare several blank disks at once: use Format & mount all in the header.
- Health check: glance at the health badges; investigate anything not PASS.
Gotchas
- Formatting permanently destroys all data on the drive and cannot be undone — the
type-the-device-name step exists to slow you down. - Health UNKNOWN isn’t necessarily failure — some USB bridges don’t pass health
data through — but treat it as unverified, not healthy. - NTFS/foreign partitions show up and can be mounted, but a drive that will live on
this host long-term is better formatted ext4. - Unmounting a drive that’s serving as an active Cloud Sync source will stall that
source.
